Finnform NELSON, NZ

CAD design / reverse engineering / small-batch 3D printing

From a worn part or a rough idea to a finished piece.

I design in CAD and print in a range of plastics depending on the application. Based in Nelson, but happy to work on projects nationwide — parts ship anywhere, or if you'd rather print it yourself, I'll just supply the design file. Copy or reverse-engineer a part that's failed, or model something new from scratch — one-offs and small runs.

What I do

01
REVERSE ENGINEER

Copy a part that's failed

Bring me the broken original — I'll measure it up, model it in CAD and print a replacement, adjusted for the failure if the old one needed it.

NEW DESIGN

Model something from scratch

Sketch, description or rough dimensions in, a proper CAD model out — including complex surfaces, not just boxes and brackets.

PRINT — OR DIY

One-offs, small runs, or just the file

PLA, PETG, ASA and PLA-CF on a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume, shipped nationwide — or if you'd rather print it yourself, I'll supply a print-ready design file instead.

How a project runs

03
01

Measure & scope

Send photos and dimensions, or the original part itself. Define its intended use and environment.

02

Model

The component is modelled in CAD — a new design, or a copy or modification of an existing part.

03

Test print

A trial print checks fit before committing, particularly for anything threaded, load-bearing or tight-tolerance.

04

Final print & handover

Final material and finish, delivered in a day to two weeks depending on queue and complexity.
